On July 1st 2002 the National Economic Institute in Iceland was closed down. The tasks performed by the institute have been transferred partly to Statistics Iceland and in part to the Ministry of Finance.

The national accounts and related tasks are now compiled by Statistics Iceland, mostly by the same staff and in the same location for the next few months.

The Economic Department of the Ministry of Finance, has now taken over other tasks performed by the NEI.

It is hoped that disruption in the services previously offered by the National Economic Institute will be kept to a minimum. All enquiries will be dealt with by one of the two successors. This homepage will direct visitors to the appropriate locations.

The new e-mail addresses of previous staff members who are now to be found at Statistics Iceland or the Ministry of Finance are to be found here.
